Our commitment to your health inspires us to go above and beyond during your care. The patient is our main priority!
As chiropractors in the Mars / Pittsburgh area, we want all of our patients to feel at home when they walk in the doors of our office. Because chiropractic care involves a series of visits and an ongoing relationship, it’s important for you to feel comfortable right from the start and at every visit thereafter.
Your First Visit
Our receptionist will warmly greet you at the door and provide for you a few health history forms to fill out. These forms provide us with general information about you, including your current health and health history. Please make your answers as extensive as possible because it helps the doctor to determine the best care for you. The doctor will see you shortly. We pride ourselves in being timely, so ensure you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment and expect your initial visit to last 45 minutes to 1 hour.
You should bring your driver’s license, health insurance card, and any pertinent medical information such as MRI reports, X-rays, etc. Once the paperwork has been filled out, you will have your first consultation. You and the doctor will discuss your health related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. The first visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your conditions, your expectations, and your goals. We also pride ourselves in being very honest about if we think that chiropractic treatment can help you meet your goals.
The doctor will perform a series of examinations, including:
- Ability to turn and bend
- Neurological examination
- Orthopedic examination
- Postural examination
- Physical examination
This will require some mild stretching, but the doctor will certainly stay within your comfort zone. These tests provide a plethora of information to help us determine your condition. You may also receive X-rays, which can help to rule-in or rule-out conditions as well in assisting the development of your treatment plan. We’ll check for any abnormal degeneration, arthritis, and structural misalignments.
Depending on the preliminary findings, the doctor may start treatment during your first visit. This may include spinal manipulation, therapy modalities, and/or soft-tissue therapy. We will also provide you with home-care instructions to try until your next visit, including ice, heat, or specific stretches. After your visit is complete, you’ll schedule your next visit where we’ll go over the doctor’s findings. Between those visits, the doctor will review your history, examinations, and x-rays to provide you with the best chiropractic care and recommendations to move forward with your chiropractic care.
